Rotary Club Amman Capital was founded in September 2013 in Amman and was officially approved by Rotary International in January 2014. It is worth mentioning that the first Rotary Club in Jordan was established in Amman in 1956, with many other clubs being established since in various parts of the Kingdom who joined millions of volunteers the world over to further the Rotary motto, “Service above self”. Rotary International is an international service organization whose stated purpose is to bring together business and professional leaders in order to provide humanitarian service and to advance goodwill and peace around the world. It is a non-political and non-religious organization open to all people regardless of race, color, religion, gender, or political preference. There are 35,000+ member clubs worldwide, and 1.2 million individuals, known as Rotarians, have joined.
The German-Jordanian Society has existed since 1963 and is one of the oldest intergovernmental culture and friendship societies. It goes back to a personal connection of the late founder Consul Kurt Uihlein with the late Jordanian King Hussein. DJG believes that the trend towards internationalization touches all areas of private and public life. Private and professional networks have long since crossed national borders and intercultural dialogue is in demand at all levels. Out of this awareness, the German-Jordanian Society understands itself as a mediator between the two nations. GJS is a network that enables people to realize a sense of friendship based on understanding, tolerance and trust.
